ESSENTIALS FOR A WORKING GIRL

Essentials for a Working Girl

Shirt, Trousers -Jcrew, Coat - Vince, Bag, Heels - Zara, Watch - Bloomingdales, Laptop - Sony

As summer comes to the end, millions of students head back to sleepless nights of studying, partying, and working at universities especially for college students heading into their junior/senior year. The approach of fall signals the time for them to look for internships that jumpstart their "dream" jobs, to attend test prep for graduate schools, and to prepare for life after college.
As I get ready for my junior year, I imagine what my life would be life after college and what career I want. Thus, I design this outfit as what I hope my 9-to-5 outfit would look like. An unconventional take on the professional outfit by swapping out plain black wool trousers for foulard-designed trouser that is popular this F/W season. Including some classic black office bag and pumps, the classic working girl is ready to take on the world!

These are some of the few things I am currently craving. Hurry, some items are already low in stock like this Rag&Bone/Jeans in Wine.

GETTY"S MUSEUM

Happy Tuesday!
It's been quite a long time since I have updated my blog. Finals, summer plans, and procrastination really took a toll on my blogging. Sorry to all my readers!!

Now that everything is settled, and summer school has started, I can spend more time updating my blog with OOTD and other post of clothes, life, and hobbies. I just wanted to make a quick post about my trip to the Getty's Museum. I went with my boyfriend and a friend today to this place, since it was a highly recommended place to visit by my school. After constantly making rain checks with my friend Ed, we made a firm decision to go today.
Here is the West Pavilion section of the Getty's Museum. This part mainly consists of photographs by two Japanese photographers depicting daily activities of Japanese life or surrealism. The rest of the museum contained European paintings and sculptures from the Renaissance to the mid-1700s. I would say I am not a huge fan of  European art and culture, so walking around and looking at multiple paintings of deity and religious figures did not inspire me.
Bed for the royal families
But the most entertaining part of the trip was exhibits of how the French royal family lived. Large ornate beds with Gold bed frames, and intricate baroque designs on mantle pieces really awed me. I could never imagine living like a royal centuries ago. Every piece of furniture seems too "fancy" to use, if understand what I mean.

After strolling through the North, East, South, and West Pavilions, we decided to rest outside in the Central Garden area. In the middle of the garden, there was a fountain with a maze floating on top. It was beautiful and relaxing to look at after walking through countless corridors of paintings.

Tank top- Nordstrom, Jeans- Acne, Crossbody bag- Forever 21, hoodie- American Apparel

For my outfit, I decided to keep it very casual. I wore flip flops with a loose, peach-colored tank top, and skinny jeans. I brought a grey hoodie in case it got chilly.

Twinsies!!
Have a great week! Stay chic and optimist.

PINK LEMONDAE

Due to the  recent rise in temperature in SoCal, I thought it would be nice to bust out some shorts rather than wear skinny jeans. As a college student, about 90% of the bottoms I own are skinny jeans, which is a drastic change from only wearing uniforms since kindergarten. So when the weather rose to 80 degrees this past weekend, I decided to take break free from my skinny jeans routine and put on some shorts.
Still awkward to take photos of myself

My favorite and most comfortable shoes ever!

Cardigan-J,Crew, Tank-Nordstrom, shorts- American Eagle, Boots- Munro, Bag- YSL

Since I have started college, I pretty much stopped drinking soda. To make up for the lack of sugar, I've become addicted to PINK LEMONADE. This delicious, pink drink has been my go-to drink to quench my thirst and sugar cravings. Thus when I saw this cardigan on sale at J.Crew, I reminded me so much of pink lemonade that I had to get it. The contrasts of the blush pink and neon yellow really mimic the taste and appearance of the drink. The deceptive, innocent color of the drink is offset by the citric taste of the lemons.
The anchor buttons on this cardigan add a cute, nautical touch to this sweater.

I am so excited to go home who the Memorial weekend. I need so R&R after my second round of midterms and before my finals. Stay chic and optimist!!

HOME FOR THE WEEKEND

Happy Monday! This is just a quick post of what I wore this weekend for Mother's Day. Its been quite a while since I have gone home. I miss sleeping in my bright yellow room and waking up to an early morning breeze.

Cardigan-J.Crew Factory, Tank Top- Nordstrom, Shorts- Abercrombie

Necklace- J.Crew Factory, Shoes- Kate Spade

Here are two purchases I made recently. The necklace I got was from J.Crew Factory. They were having a new arrivals sale, and on top of that, I got a coupon for an extra 30% off!!!. The only negative point I have on the necklace was that the color is way darker than on the website.

The shoes I got were such a great deal. I purchased them off Ebay in pre-owned condition for only $125. The shoe was worn once by the seller, but that was fine with me. If I purchased the shoe at original price, it would have costed me about $289. I couldn't pass up a deal like this.

Have a great week everyone!!

HOLY GRAIL

For those of us who can afford to pay full price designer goods, I praise you guys. But those of us who are not so lucky, it is nice that there are tons of designer & retail collaboration to allow us "mere mortals" to have a dosage of designer good. Even though we can't have our dream collaboration, we can still scour the web for some designer look-alike or knockoffs.

DRUMROLL PLEASE...

Valentino Rockstud Flats
Aren't these flats gorgeous? I have noticed recently numerous fashion bloggers: sydneys fashion diary & add bubbles to taste to name a few. There are some knockoff versions by Forever 21 as shown by paperblog & the-budgetista. In addition to the Forever 21's version, I found a pair by Sole Society that are also knockoffs of the Valentino shoes.
Sole Society-$49.95
These are about twice the price of the Forever 21's version, but I prefer the snakeskin print on there flats. Aren't these adorable.

NEUTRAL TONES

Cole Haan leopard flats

Gucci bag, Mango suede jacket, Foreign Exchange dress
Sorry, for the late post. Spring quarter and work has just begun, and the workload is beginning to pile up. I took these pictures on the last day of Spring Break. Rarely, I would wear brown. I always feel like it's a difficult color to pull off,but mixing the different textures and shades really make the outfit work. Have a great weekend!

SPRING SHOES: SNAKE PRINT

Snake Print

Shoe Dazzle heels, Nastygal flats, Jcrew flats, Brunello Cucinelli sandals, River Island heels, Sam Edelman slipper, Jeffrey Campbell boots

I can't believe it is almost spring! Lately, I have been browsing for pastel color, bright prints, and breezy clothing pieces to incorporate into my closet. But for some reason, I have been eyeing spring colors mainly in the shoe department, especially in snake print. I think snake print can easily be used as either a neutral or trendy print just like leopard if it is done as an accessory piece. There are the affordable kinds like the Nastygal white flats or the Shoe Dazzle heels to the Jeffery Campbell boots or the Brunello Cucinelli sandals. So many styles and colors to choose from, I can't decide!
